On a glorious sunny day, there’s no other place to be, except here…I am lucky to live a short drive away from Killiney beach, County Dublin. If you sit on the rocks and just listen to the waves, you could easily think you are on the continent. It is very easy to get to by DART from Dublin City centre (killiney dart station is beside beach) about 30 mins from the city on the train. There is also a parking area beside the beach and its great for walking dogs or just to clear your head. This particular area of South County Dublin is described as the Irish Bay of Naples.
Walking from one end to the other there are spectacular views of Dalkey Island and Bray head. You will need good walking shoes as there are lots of pebbles and stones on this beach but sometimes it can be a perfect sandy beach. If you dare to dip more than your toe in the water, I’m sure the screams will be heard far and wide as its freezing most of the time. But there are the local brave swimmers who swim every morning without fail.
For me, a walk is just fine.
